The Rising of the Shield Hero is an action packed anime based on a light novel of the same name. It follows an easygoing Japanese boy, Naofumi Iwatani, who was transported into an alternate universe with three other young men to become the world’s Cardinal Heroes. As Cardinal Heroes they have to fight interdimensional monsters called Waves.
The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2: release date
The Rising of the Shield Hero season 1 premiered on AT-X way back in January 2019. The anime wrapped up with 25 episodes in June, 2019. You can watch the anime on Crunchyroll.
During the 2019 Crunchyroll Expo, fans were excited to know that the anime was renewed for a second and a third season. At 2020’s virtual Crunchyroll Expo, it was announced that we will get to watch The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 in October 2021.
The first season of the anime first aired in January 2019 and has 25 episodes. Second and third seasons of the anime were announced at the Crunchyroll Expo in 2019.
The second season is set to release sometime in 2021. Masato Jinbo will be replacing Takao Abo as the director of the anime. Rest of the cast members will continue in their roles.
The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2: plot expectation
Season one followed Naofumi as he began his journey as a shield hero. Unlike his companion heroes, who grew up in extravagant homes, Naofumi had to face adversities since his childhood. Facing obstacles even in the parallel world isn’t something new for our shield hero. Due to past traumas, Naofumi only trusts himself.
Fortunately, toward the end of season one, Naofumi is not left alone. He finds true friendship and becomes a powerful hero. The season one finale revealed the existence of stronger heroes who will offer tough competition.
In season two, we will probably see Naofumi honing his skills to become stronger and protect this world. Additionally, Season 2 will dive deeper into the secrets of the book that Naofumi had originally found before he was transported to another world.
We will see Naofumi meet exciting new characters in his journey ahead. Furthermore, we will see the king in a courtroom and plunge into this character’s story. We will also see Raphtalia and Filo bond over their past and share a moment of friendship.
