He was the seventh best selling recording artist and the fourth best selling solo artist in the US. He sold over 150 million records worldwide and his compilation album Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2 , is one of the best selling albums in the United State.
He dropped out of his high school to pursue his career as a musician at a age where most of the people are confused about their future. He was a part of two bands The Hassles and Attila, after which he signed a record deal with Family productions. He kick started his career with his debut release Cold Spring Harbor.
After the hit of his debut album, he released albums after albums like Captain Jack, Streetlife Serenade , Turnstiles, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, Just the Way You Are, Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song), Only the Good Die Young, and She’s Always a Woman and many more.
Billy Joel And Marital Affair
Billy married Elizabeth Weber Small in 1973. However, it was a controversial marriage because Elizabeth was married to Jon Small a member of Billy’s band and the extra marital affair heated the tension between the three as a result of which Elizabeth’s relationship with two got uglier. After their marriage and re-conciliation the two worked on their relationship but at the end they divorced in 1982.
He married model Christie Brinkley in 1985 and the couple gave birth to their daughter Alexa Ray Joel. But the marriage did not work out between the two and they got divorced in 1994.
In 2004, he married Katie Lee a chef but the age difference didn’t quite work between the two announcing their separation in 2009.
In 2015, he married his fourth wife Alexis Roderick who is an equestrian and former Morgan Stanley executive at his estate with their families and close friends. The two have been happily married since then and were blessed with a daughter.
