Jump Street franchise has been adapted into series as well as movies. Holly Robinson Pete and Jonny Depp carried the weight of the series from 1987 to 1990 and starred in the first movie 21 Jump Street in 2012 too. The franchise has released two movies as of now, 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. The amazing reviews received by the first two movies made everyone believe that the third instalment might be on it’s way too.
Revisiting the movies
In Jump Street, we saw how Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill don the characters of two undercover agents who owing to their young appearances decide to enter high-school for a project. They soon realise how the times have changed, and the high school is not same anymore. They vow to overcome their fears and get to the bottom of the drug racket and pluck it out room and stem.
This comedic duo managed to make us laugh at their silly instincts and made us love them with equal passion. The interesting plot line is the USP of the series. A rerun of the first two movies cannot be missed for sure.
Future of the series
- Jump Street: Now for her pleasure: After the successful running of 21 Jump Street(2012) and 22 Jump Street(2014), news for another instalment of the series was making the rounds. This was announced to be a women centric movie, under development in 2015 April. Tiffany Haddish, Awkwafina and Zendaya were in talks to take up the role of two undercover agents posing as School students. Tentatively titled 23 Jump Street, the movie was announced in November as Jump Street: Now for her pleasure.
- MIB 23: Hack of Sony’s system in December 2014, leaked the news that there would be a crossover of Jump street and Men in Black for the third instalment. Later this big news was also confirmed by the Directors, Chris Miller and Phil Lord in an interview. The crossover was titled MIB 23 and since it was still under development, in 2019 it was decided the Jump Street 24 would be produced first.
As the production and script is still under process, fans will have to hold in their breaths just a bit longer to be able to sit in front of their screens watching the third part of their favourite series.
